Elphinstone Logging Focus is expanding its ‘Forest Protection Efforts’ and we need your help.
We are looking for volunteers that have a passion for saving our key forests and habitat from elimination and want to help protect our environment for future generations. We are a diverse, knowledgeable and fun group to work with.
Our Campaigns currently fall into two main categories:
Supporting the 2,200 Ha Mt. Elphinstone Park Expansion Proposal – in addition to promoting the expansion proposal with research projects and lobbying, there’s a need to save key forests that lie within the proposed expansion area from future logging. The forests immediately threatened by the Sunshine Coast Community Forests (SCCF) are in the SongBird Forest (EW19, EW18A, 18B).
Protecting Forests above Gibsons and Halfmoon Bay – again we see the SCCF targeting forests on south-facing slopes above communities. Post logging & road building affects results in downstream damages to public infrastructure. In addition, SCCF targets important Mature Forests that are on the slippery slope of extinction.
We are looking for individuals that wish to help out in the following areas:
- Research
- Trail Building
- Community Events
- Fundraising
- Promotion to Key Groups: Seniors, Mountain Bikers, Trail Walkers, Fish and Wildlife, Schools, clubs etc.
- Phone Calling
- Promotion and Media
- Administration
